When I was study in secondary school, I had a history subject. I studied about Italy history and culture. I remember once, My teacher asked the students:
Teacher: what is the capital city of Italy? I raised my hand up and said: Capital city of Italy is “Rome”. It was very interesting to study all those old history and culture. Since that time, Rome has kept in my mind, and I always remind in my mind that ”I want to visit Italy, I want to see Rome”. I believe the power of dream, it is very powerful to keep your dreams, and desire of your dream. I am appreciate and surprise what I have dreams, and wanted. They are mostly become true, not all but many of them became true.
Let’s return to the trip to Italy, I have spent 7 days in Rome, my dream city I used to dream to visit. Travelling can fun, and much experiences, and dangerous can be happened anytime. My first arrived in Rome due my flight was late, so I was staying 1 night in the airport. It was not really comfortable at all, but if I did not try, I would not know how it was, during I was sleeping on the floor and always watch out my property, and it was freezing. It made me think of homeless people. The just live from day to day, and sleeping at the uncomfortable place. It must be hard for them.
The time moves on, in the morning, I left the airport and went to the hostel. The other funny thing was taking a train to the city center. While I was travelling by train, and due I was so tired from uncomfortable sleeping, I was falling asleep in the train. And guess what?
Instead of taking a train for 30 minutes to get into the center, I took 90 minutes, and when I woke up, I was somewhere at nowhere, I could not guess where it was, I only saw it like a country side, full of sun flowers, and grape farm along the road train. I went to ask the train driver. What should I do, I want to get in to the center, but now I am nowhere which I don’t know.He said: You can take the train backward, and you don’t need to pay. I supposed to pay, but he was kind to me.
My 7 days in Rome, I really learned much, and joyfulness. I was in Colosseo or Colosseum known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, was commissioned in AD 72 by Emperor Vespasian. It was completed by his son, Titus, in 80, with later improvements by Domitian. The Coliseum is huge, an ellipse 188m long and 156 wide. His aim(Vespasian) was to gain popularity by staging deadly combats of gladiators and wild animal fights for public viewing. The games in AD 80, over 9,000 wild animals were killed. Rome full of old history, just like I was studying in my secondary school. The different was, I could see the real history rather than from the book. Italy is rich of Pizza and Spaghetti, also ice cream. I love ice cream in Italy. During my visit, I ate ice cream every day, and just love it.
I have visit all over the places in Rome, I have gain many new experiences, fun, tired, and excited. While I was travelling in Rome, some people came straight to me and asked me” Are you from the Philippine?” another day I met people and asked me again “Are you from Latin America?”. I think they will never guess right where exactly I am from. It does not matter. I know my country is far away from where I am visiting right now. So it is okay for let them guess where I am from.
